Beach ball globes from the Dollar Tree for the win! In preparation for Coastal Academy's "World War II in Europe" unit, I knew how important it was for students to have a foundational understanding of European geography. That, of course, meant that students first needed to be able to locate EUROPE!
After identifying the continents on a world map, students had to blow up their beach balls and outline Europe with a sharpie.
Then, we tossed around the beach balls and I would say, “Stop and find Europe!” They would have to quickly locate Europe and trace the outline with their fingers.
Repeat and repeat and repeat! Repeat exposure to content is SO important for all students and critical for students with learning challenges!
Stay tuned for “World War II in Europe” lessons in the coming weeks.
